In Athens, a GOP debate that wraps up ethics, health care and a ...
Some off-dole out observations on the first ponder over among Republican candidates for governor, conducted in Athens and televised statewide:
–The missing possibility was imperial Assurance Commissioner John Oxendine. You can be aware of his explanation – why be compared with others if you are, in polls and in stake-raising, the front-messenger? On the other pass on, the statewide forum was important, untimely revealing for GOP candidates. Not to be among the faces of the regal’s GOP tomorrow's will have a payment.
– The first intrinsic jab among the six candidates who participated came from former federal Sen. Eric Johnson of Savannah, who had served as chairman of a communal Blood-Senate ethics cabinet that (fruitlessly) looked into accusations against Whore-house Orator Glenn Richardson – who resigned last year after his ex-old lady revealed an concern with a lobbyist.
The founding of a new, temporary unity government under former European Central Bank Degradation President Lucas Papademos is a step in the right information despite the poor track record of coalition governments in Greece.
However, the prospect for the Greek economy remains cloudy at best, putting at endanger the country’s membership in the eurozone.
We have long held that the mismanagement of the Greek emergency by the Socialist government under George Papandreou has augmented existing imbalances and budgetary problems dating back to the 1970s, bringing the country to its knees. The referendum on the euro was the latest misjudge, aggravating an already difficult situation for the country at home and far.
Leaving aside the weakening of Greece’s negotiating importance abroad caused by the ill-thought referendum, one can easily categorize two other conflicting consequences at home. On the positive side, a large dole out of the Greek public now realizes that there is a real danger the boondocks may exit the eurozone and that various scenarios which have appeared in the extraneous press were not theoretical but actually have some credence.
Athens, Greece - In a rare quelling for a non-Kenyan in a major Marathon, Abdelkerim Boubker of Morocco won the Athens Ideal Marathon on Sunday (13) morning, taking undeniably one minute off the event record, with 2:11:40.
Boubker, 30, had to drub more than the all-conquering Kenyans, and one of the toughest courses in the world. He also had to contend with some of the worst conditions in the 30 year background of the revived event. There was the expected tailwind off the Aegean Seas for some of the way on the technique from Marathon to Athens, but the cold, wet and swirling breeze elsewhere more than cancelled any gain, and with temperatures barely reaching 10C, it was a hard way to set a personal largest in his fifth marathon.
Proof of Boubker’s quality run was the mutilate behind him. It looked in the early stages that defending champion, Raymond Bett of Kenya was on-going at the back of the group of six, simply pursuing the tactics that brought him crushing and a race record last year. But he was first to drop off the lead collection, at 23k, and like several of the other elite entry eventually dropped out.
